While there are many coaches in Alberta today, we at Impact Debate Academy (IDA) guarantee a few key elements that set us apart:

Quality Coaching

At IDA, we offer coaching from debaters who excel not only in debate but also in teaching. It's common to find coaches who can win debates but struggle to effectively convey their knowledge to others. At IDA, we ensure this isn't a problem. All our instructors are accomplished university debaters. The only exceptions we make are for exceptional high schoolers who have proven their skill above and beyond their peers, such as members of Team Canada.

We design our lessons with pedagogical principles in mind, ensuring that they are structured to bring out the best in each student. Our years of coaching experience have allowed us to create syllabi and lesson plans that go beyond just talking about debate. We teach in a way that engages and develops our students.

Consistency

Debate coaches often come and go, with high school students graduating and university students moving on to their careers. This can disrupt a student’s education when working with an independent coach. At IDA, we’ve designed a curriculum with consistency in mind. Students won’t need to relearn the same concepts or adjust to drastically different approaches to debate. Our standardized program ensures that a student can take classes with us from grade 6 through to grade 12 without interruption.

IDA is here for the long haul. Unlike other academies or organizations that may be temporary projects for students, we are Calgary’s premier debate academy.
